This Month At BAS – November 2020

Show your BAS support by joining our PTA today! We have 64% participation with 128 out of 201 families. Help us reach our goal of 100% membership participation! Thanks to your contributions so far we have been able to move forward with the following items/programs:
  • BAS Shirts for all the new and Kindergarten students
  • Grant for the 1st grade sit-upons
  • Grant for the Brain Pop subscription
  • Parent Academy Workshops
  • BAS Staff welcome back gift bags

Kindness Day and Cranford Family Cares Collection- 11/16 🍞🍝🍯🧀
November 16th is Kindness Day and the PTA will be running a collection for items specifically in need for Cranford Family Cares on behalf of our school. Please consider donating one or a few of the items below via your child’s backpack so they can make the donation at school. The collection will take place all week and the delivery will take place on Friday after school. As always, we thank you for being so kind!
Items in need of are: Individually wrapped snacks for kids (any), Instant boxed pancake mix, Syrup, Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Boxed bake good mix, Boxed mac and cheese
STEAM Night – Thursday 11/19 VIRTUAL 🐉🔬📏
STEAM Night is now STEAM Week!! Interactive, action packed, filled with fun- and this year Virtual!!
Talewise (fka ScienceTellers) will take BAS Students on a daring journey to save the Kingdom from the evil Ice Sorceress.  This Dragon themed live action story will take place virtually during Library class.
On Thursday, November 19, students will come home with a pre-packaged STEAM project kit* and step-by-step instructions for families to experiment with together. Parents are encouraged to photograph the finished projects to share on social media and in class.
*Some materials will be provided.  Parents should plan to have baking soda, vinegar and a wide-mouthed plastic bottle on hand.

Spirit Day – Friday 11/20 🐾 🥨
Show your school spirit by wearing your BAS or Cranford gear! Remember to snap those pictures for our yearbook.
Holiday Boutique – Friday 11/20🌲
It’s almost that time of year again! Our Holiday Boutique gives kids the chance to shop and purchase gifts for family members. Information will be forthcoming on this very special annual event!

Yearbook Pictures 📘
Keep those yearbook pictures coming! Please send high-resolution photos (select actual size if you are sending from your phone) to basyearbook2021@gmail.com. Include the event/activity, student names, and class/teacher of the students pictured.  Any community events, sports, playdates, etc. including current BAS students whether at school or not will most likely be helpful. Thank you for your support!
Box Top Collection
Parents simply download the Box Tops app and select our school by zip code. Then snap a picture of your grocery receipts and the fundraiser money loads right into our school’s account.

Cranford Equity and Inclusivity Initiative Conference 11/12
The Cranford Equity and Inclusivity Initiative invites you to a virtual conference, “Working Towards a More Equitable and Inclusive Cranford.”  It will take place on Thursday, November 12, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  The conference will feature presentations from Mayor Giblin, the Cranford Police Department, Cranford Public Schools, and the Cranford Interfaith Clergy.  Please RSVP through the following form by Tuesday, November 10.  Please expect to receive a zoom link the day before the conference.
Cranford Parent Academy – Thursday 11/19

Parent virtual presentation grades K-12
This presentation is based on coping with COVID, however  the topics discussed will translate into all aspects of parenting. John will offer tips and strategies in understanding  the impacts of COVID and quarantine on our mental health, how to handle homeschooling and families with different social distancing rules than yours, how to put your oxygen mask on first before helping your children, how to establish a reasonable structure in the household while still maintaining the relationships within the family. Q & A to follow. MUST RSVP to receive a meeting link.

Cranford Inclusivity Project
The Cranford Inclusivity Project  is a grassroots community initiative that was formed to increase inclusivity and diversity in the town of Cranford, New Jersey. The organizers of the group are Cranford residents who came together because of a shared passion for inciting positive change in our community.  Please visit their website to learn more and become involved on upcoming events and ongoing projects.
